Flashed EVO-ALL - just got around to install - too old now?!?!?

0 votes
Bought this unit new in 2021 - flashed it for my parent's van.  They've been severely ill off and on - just got time to get their van and even though I have the right firmware on it - I can't change the settings to match the install guide or do the decryptor part?  I had no idea about the 5 year old limitation - been installing these for years.  Should warn on the box because places are definetly unloading their oldest stock on people.

Hello,

Modules from 2018- cannot be configured using the flash link updater.

Modules from 2019+ can be configured using the flash link updater.

Authorized re seller and Authorized distributors are aware of this.

Best regards.

I understand the resellers are - but the end consumer is not.  Purchased in 2021, date on the unit I bought is 2017.  I had no idea that it mattered, I programmed it for their van in 2021 and gave it to them as a gift.  My mom had major heart problems, dad battled cancer over the next few years - their van was not the priority.  They are both now doing well and were able to go on a vacation, leaving me time to do the install.  My frustration is that I have a unit I paid for and programmed back in 2021 with zero indication it was a ticking time bomb.  I went ahead and bought a new one and have them all set - I'm just frustrated that I have theirs and the one from my last vehicle (which admittedly is even older) that I thought I'd be able to reuse, but they are just e-waste now because of an arbitrary date.  I'd understand if the hardware changed and a 2017 unit wouldn't support a 2025 vehicle, but I literally already have the 2013 van programming in the 2017 unit - I just can't do anything with it because of the arbitrary age thing.....
Thank you for your feedback, I will pass it along to my superiors to take into consideration for future cases such as this.

Best regards.

This company is definitely practicing bad behavior. Will never biy Fortin again. CRUTCHFIELD.COM sold me a USED UNIT from 2018 and I could not flash it straight from the box. 0/5 will never ever buy another Fortin item ever.
