OBD-II Connector Mount

I installed the THAR-FOR4 Harness which requires pluging in the original OBD-II Port into the  harness connector. Is the Harness OBD-II connector suppose to fit back into the mounting slot where the original OBD-II connector was?

Some Fords will be direct fit (mostly newer generations), others will not.
