2014 Infiniti QX50 Extra connections wrong?

0 votes
I installed the Evo, just the T connectors and the PTS wire and it is working Okay. I haven't connected the wires for the door locks or the door pin because there is a conflict.

According to the EVO guide for this vehicle,  A4 and A5 should be connected to the BCM on pin 15 and pin 37 respectively and the door pin A15 to pin 39. I was reluctant to make these connections because according to the Infiniti QX50 service manual http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/QX50/2014%20QX50/BCS.pdf , pin 15 on the BCM is an output for the ACC indicator lamp; it has nothing to do with door locks. Pin 37 isn't documented in the service manual, but pin 39 is an output for the backdoor antenna; certainly not the door pin. Can you please verify these connections? I want to finish the job, but I don't want to screw up the electronics in this car.

Thanks!

The connections shown in the guide are good, I have personally done lots of these cars. Our guide shows the connector WIRE side. In most cases service manual will show connectors from the connector side. A great way to make sure you don't mess with the car electronics is to test before connecting. The lock and unlock are empty pins that you have to insert a wire to work.

BTW your link doesn't work so can't really verify.

I fixed the link, I didn't put a space between the end of the link and the comma, please try it again.

The service manual shows the pin numbers; it has nothing to do with which side it is. Pin 15 is pin 15 no matter which way you look at it. Go to the manual I linked and look at BCS-56. You will see the pin designation for pin 15. Then look at BCS-59 and you will see pin 39. You'll also notice on that same page that pin 60 goes to the PTS switch; which is what I used for the installation instead of going directly to the switch.

Pins are 90% of the time empty in all Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. This is why our Tharness as the little clips ready to in the end of the wires.

What you are looking for is pin 126 and pin 148. They are not mentionned in the BCS pdf since there is technically no wires.

The pins we give are per connector and not the actual pin numbers of the Nissan/Infiniti BCM. When you looked up pin 15 and 37, you should of also noticed, it is not even the right connector, refer to BCS-55. We are connecting to M123 not M119.

The image below is of the EX35 model. But the connector is the same, although the QX50 will have more wires popping out. The pins labeled 95 / 97 are the lock and unlock (no wires at BCM). You will also notice that on the connector itself, the pins are labeled differently than what the BCS says.

Thanks! This certainly shines a new light on this matter. Can you please show me where I could get documentation on these undocumented pins of the BCM? I want to be able to do other things such as the defroster and I know if I have these docs I will easily be able to find a way.

BTW - These lines should be a little longer to reach the BCM which is at the kickpanel of the passenger side. I will have to cut and splice in some wires to get it to reach.
Pin 40 in that connector is actually supposed to be a (-)Rear Defrost trigger. (labelled as 148)

If you want a complete wiring diagram, you need to find the actual wiring chart from infiniti for the QX50.
I'm interested in the front defroster. Does this module control that automatically through CAN or does it need to be hard wired?

I'd love to get the complete wiring diagram, but I don't know where to find it.

BTW - Pin 40 in that diagram is labeled as 147, not 148.
Non of our modules are listed as compatible with defrost control through Can. There is techinically also no outputs that you would be able to use to go and power that circuit up. This type of installation would require a remote starter with auxilliary outputs that can be controlled with aftermarket remotes or programmed to turn on at X moment.
I could easily breadboard a little circuit that would do what I need to do, I just need to know where to access the trigger in the BCM or whereever it is..or if there is an open collector transistor driving a relay for defrost.
I do not have that info. You might want to check with forums such as http://www.the12volt.com
Thanks! Looks like a good forum, but it doesn't have the info I need.

This may help you

Rear Defroster green - latched dash fuse box, wht 10 pin plg, pin 4 or BCM, grn 40 pin plug, pin 40
Mirror Defroster (same as rear defroster)

Yes, I know where to access the rear defroster. What I want to be able to access is the FRONT defroster. Afterall, I could drive fine with the rear window all frosted up, but I can't with the front window iced up.
