CX9 Starts when doors are open

0 votes
I have a 2018 Mazda CX9 with the EVO ONE installed using the T harness. The vehicle starts without any issue using the OEM remote. The only concern I have is that it also starts while the doors are open and im putting my child in his car seat and I accidentally tapped lock button on the remote three times. Doesn’t the EVO ONE sense that the vehicle is disarmed and the doors are open and it should not start the vehicle?

No,  however there is an option that can be enabled by your installer where it would require you to press Lock-UNLOCK-Lock to remote start your vehicle which will cut down on the accidental starts when the lock button is pressed 3x.

On the Fortin website it states that the Evo One monitors the status of the doors on the vehicle's CAN-Bus and provides a negative output when one of the doors are opened.

Yes it does monitor the doors.
Yes, we monitor the doors:

1.in order to be able use it as a trigger for the evo-alarm feature,

2.to shut down the remote starter IF the option is enabled AND the remote starter was already activated WITH the doors closed and the vehicle is running AND a door is OPENED.

An OPEN door trigger/input is not designed to prevent remote starting. My first suggestion would be the best thing to do aside from disabling 3xlock and adding an aftermarket RF kit (antenna and remotes)

Thank you,
