On the 20 pin connector A13 it says to connect to the start/stop external control. What wire and where is it located on my 2011 Ford escape. Also all questions about the hood pin and valet switch say to hook them up to prevent starting when the hood is open. I understand the saftey but does it have to be hooked up for the remote start to function?

This is an external trigger and does not need to be connected to the vehicle.

The hoodpin is a safety feature that will prevent the remote starter to function when the hood is open.
