What were the conditions that led to the auto connect to stop working? Or did it just stop working all of a sudden for no reason?

Yes just quit working one evening for my wife. The auto conect is working and receiving signal and working properly.

Perhaps try re programming it to the evo?

Can't say I have ever heard of those units just quit working...
